Mammillaria albilanata

Pleasant cactaceae with a candid look, formed by globose stem, strongly flattened at the apex, which keeps rather reduced dimensions tending instead to ramify at the base to obtain small tufts. The body of the cactus is completely hidden by the down present among the tubercles, which often creates a whole with the short thorns well straight, of a shining white, almost vitreous. In late spring the top of the plant will be crowned by small but lively flowers on the notes of magenta. Overall, M. albilanata, as the name itself shows, is a sort of completely white sphere which, besides giving the exemplar an extreme delicacy, also has a useful function: the overall whiteness allows the cactus to reflect abundantly sunlight, making it resistant even under the scorching sun of its origin areas!
