Description:

It is a small solitary cactus of a globular shape, slightly depressed at the apex. It has a dark green body, tending to purplish, when exposed to the sun, with tubercles, arranged in a slight spiral, with white areoles and extremely particular combed spines, that resemble a spider; each spine is quite robust and dark, tending to fade towards black at the end. During the flowering period its decorative aspect is extremely accentuated by large and abundant flowers of a beautiful deep red or, sometimes, bright yellow color.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, and suspend watering completely in winter.

A well draining soil is an optimal solution, for example a mixture of peat and sand so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
