This species occurs in very variable forms, all united, however, by the particular tendency to cluster. Each head has a spherical body, sometimes slightly cylindrical, dark green and rather shiny, with narrow and fairly marked ribs, from which, on round white areoles, thin light spines emerge, tending to be of a yellow-orange color, especially at the apexes, where they protrude visibly upwards. Between spring and summer, huge inflorescences of the most varied bright colors, typically funnel-shaped, bloom along the sides of the stem of all Lobivias.
