Lobivia drijveriana

Solitary globose cactacea slightly depressed at the top, which with growth tends to become slightly cylindrical; it is made up of vague longitudinal non-symmetrical ribs, almost spirally arranged, and of undulating and not very pronounced tubercles. Thorns emerge from oval and whitish areoles, the real peculiarity of Lobivia: the radial ones are yellowish-white, shorter and arranged like the legs of a spider; the single central spine is instead facing upwards, longer, more robust and of a dark, almost black shade. During the flowering season L. drijveriana will surprise you with large funnel-shaped flowers in shades of yellow-orange enriched with delicate green shades near the throat.
