Succulent known as "living stone" for the shape similar to a pebble and the colors that tend to blend easily with the surrounding rocky environment; in this case, the variety "julii" (whose name was chosen in honor of the German botanist Julius Deremberg) takes on light gray tones, sometimes whitish, to blend with the typical limestone quartz areas from which it comes. It is characterized by a pair of extremely fleshy leaves, shaped like an inverted cone with a flat upper surface on which there are evident deeply furrowed veins of a dark, almost black hue. One of the peculiarities for which the species is easily recognizable is the dark mottling that surrounds the whole central fissure, which separates only partially the two leaves; from the latter, in autumn, will bloom showy daisy-shaped and whitish flowers, impossible not to notice!
