Lithops geyeri

Succulent miniature, commonly known as "living stone due to the inverted cone shape of its two fleshy leaves, separated from each other by a single central fissure. Of a nice greyish-green, L. geyeri represents a species in its own right mainly due to the even smaller dimensions compared to other exemplars of Lithops, united to its surprisingly bigger flower of the others, of a lively intense yellow. The flat surface of the foliage, rather dark, is dotted by paler spots and by margins drawn like soft denticles. The pastel shades of this succulent and its shape similar to a pebble are important natural tricks: they allow Lithops to blend perfectly with the surrounding environment to avoid falling prey to animals! Sometimes most of the succulent is underground, but the presence of almost translucent windows on the upper surface of the leaves allows the plant to perform photosynthesis equally fully.
