The name of the species was chosen in honor of Moritz Kurt Dinter, a renowned German botanist. It is a wonderful miniature succulent, part of what are commonly identified as "living stones", as well as for the small size that does not exceed 2-3 cm, also for the rounded-like shape that the pair of leaves takes . The epidermis is iridescent depending on the environment in which the plant is located as it tends to blend in with it: it can often range from a purplish green to a soft cream color, pleasantly dotted with brownish-red on the flat upper surface. The soft color of Lithops contrasts nicely with the large yellow flowers that bloom from the central gap between the two leaves.
