Lemaireocereus stellatus

It is a columnar cactus, that reaches a maximum height of about 4 meters. It has a green to bluish stem, equipped with rather marked and serrated ribs, with whitish areoles, quite distant between the hollows. The spines are radiated in the shape of a star, some of those are rather short, others are very long and very straight, fading into shades of gray, becoming black at the apex. The inflorescences, slightly bell-shaped, have a characteristic white-pink color and, unlike other Lemaireocereus, are nocturnal: they begin to open up as soon as the sun sets, to be fully open around 3.00 in the morning and then close down again between 7.00 am and 9.00 am.
