Kedrostis leloja

Succulent particularly appreciated for its massive woody caudex that, unlike most caudiciform plants, has a fairly rapid growth, reaching remarkable dimensions with a form sympathetically compared to the foot of an elephant. During the vegetative season, annually, from the caudex grow thin climbing tendrils that exceed the 2 meters of length, finding support in the plants that surround them or giving rise to twisted bushes and intertwined with their pinnate leaves with the typical heart shape. A curiosity: perhaps not many people know that the fruits of K. leloja, similar to small orange peppers, are considered edible in the native areas, as well as the same foliage is cooked and frequently exploited as vegetables!
