Kedrostis africana

Commonly known in its origin zones as "Baboon cucumber", this species has a massive woody caudex, swollen and with extremely extravagant and ornamental forms, necessary for the plant to store water to exploit the drought periods. From the tuber develop annually long thin stems and climbers, formed by leaves reaching even the 10 cm: of a nice bright green, they get triangular shape and subdivide in 5 lobes well evidenced by their nervations. It is a monoecious plant, that is, having both male and female flowers in the same plant, which decorate in summer the long stems with pleasant cream white bunches
