Description:

This succulent sometimes can turn out to be a real bush, which reaches even 6 meters in height in nature. It has green stems, that tend to lignify at the base of the plant, from which quite large, light green leaves come out, characterized by three or five lobes and wavy margins. It has female flowers, all surrounded by small and yellowish male flowers, which bloom in different periods. Usually this plant blooms throughout the year, if the climatic conditions allow it. From its abundant seeds oil is extracted, which has multiple functions, for example, used for the production of lubricants, bath oils, detergents, for lighting and also as a cooking fuel.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sun rays, especially during the hottest hours of the day, as long as they might burn the leaves.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water regularly but moderately during the growing season (when the new leaves are born), always making sure that the soil is always dry between one watering and the next one. During the dormant period (when the leaves begin to turn yellow and fall) suspend watering.

The best soil is a well-draining and porous one, even better if further enriched with 50% or more of inert materials such as pumice, lapilli or clay.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
