Description:

The name of this species already indicates in itself the show that the plant will give you: from the Latin "splendens" in fact means "beautiful, shining", in reference to the decidedly peculiar and fascinating aspect of the plant. It is characterized by a typical rosette shape, which grows rather slowly and only rarely tufts. Its leaves are extremely fleshy, rather rigid and of an almost perfectly triangular shape, tending to flatten on the upper surface. The epidermis can assume very different shades depending on the climatic and environmental conditions in which each exemplar lives, ranging from a bluish-gray to an intense purple. One of the most original features of H. splendens, which also make it easily recognizable, is its surface finely decorated with longitudinal veins of different color than the rest of the epidermis. Sometimes the space between the veins appears almost transparent, extremely extravagant detail but at the same time precious for the succulent: through these "windows" present along the streaks or on the tips of the foliage, Haworthia can in fact make sunlight penetrate inside the plant, allowing it to perform the best photosynthesis chlorophyll even keeping slightly exposed above the ground!

Plant care:

Requires an exposure in partial shade, as long as it still receives plenty of light throughout the year.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

It is advisable to always keep the soil slightly moist in spring and summer. Beware of stagnant water that could cause rotting.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
