Description:

This cactacea has a globular stem, slightly depressed at the apex, of a typical purplish almost black color, furrowed by shallow ribs and cross sections that identify the slightly pronounced tubercles. From white and round areoles spines come out that are not very long but visibly robust, of a brownish-black color, which with age tend to fade towards whitish-gray at the tip. From spring to autumn the appearance of this plant is enriched by beautiful bell-shaped flowers, which bloom at the top and remain open for several days, embelleshing the surroundings with their bright colors that vary between pink and red. In addition to being beautiful, it is a perfect cactus for outdoors, as it is highly resistant even to temperatures down to -12 ° C!

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
