A beautiful slow-growing cactus with an initially solitary habit, that tends to cluster with age. Its stem is of a globular and flattened shape and of a brown-greyish color, has slightly rounded ribs. From its white downy areoles small sturdy combed spines emerge, initially of a dark brown color, that tend to turn gray with age. In spring, it blooms with pinkish-white flowers, that often have petals of white to reddish-brown shades, which normally remain open for up to twelve days.
