Description:

The monstrous shape of this cactus presents geometric anomalies, for example asymmetrical protuberances or absence of spines, different for each individual exemplar, so much so as to make each of them absolutely unique and for this extremely sought after by collectors. It is a very particular cactaceae, formed by globose stem, slightly depressed at the apex, equipped with wavy ribs and little pronounced asymmetrical tubercles. From large woolly and roundish areolas come out quite various thorns: of a greyish-brown colour, usually thin and not very long, often they arrange like the legs of a spider and tend to wrap the stem, while at other times they remain more outward-facing. In spring, at the apex of the stem blooms big flowers with multi-layered petals of a lively yellow hue, which create a strong and pleasant contrast with the dark and glossy green of the cactus.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
