Gymnocalycium reductum

Very particular cactaceae, formed by globose stem, slightly depressed at the apex, equipped with wavy ribs and little pronounced asymmetrical tubercles.From large woolly and roundish areolas come out quite various thorns: of a greyish-brown colour, usually thin and not very long, often they arrange like the legs of a spider and tend to wrap the stem, while at other times they remain more outward-facing. In spring, at the apex of the stem blooms big flowers with multi-layered petals of a lively yellow hue, which create a strong and pleasant contrast with the dark and glossy green of the cactus.
