Gymnocalycium pflanzii

It is a slow-growing solitary cactus that varies greatly in appearance, but however does not exceed 10-15 cm in height and 20 cm in diameter. It has a globular stem, flattened at the apex with pronounced tubercles, on which oval downy areoles are formed. The spines are rigid and robust, 2-2.5 cm long, slightly curved towards the body, whose color fades from yellowish to dark brown towards the tip. In summer, near the apex, it blooms with infundibuliform pinkish-white flowers (i.e. with a funnel-shaped corolla).
