Gymnocalycium occultum

Beautiful cactacea plant with slow growth and an initially solitary habit which then tends to cluster at the base. It has a globular stem of a brown-greyish color and slightly rounded ribs. From its woolly white areoles, small and needle-like thorns appear, initially dark brown in color that tend to turn gray with age. In spring it generates pinkish-white flowers that often have petals faded from white to reddish brown of the throat, which normally remain open for up to twelve days.
