Gymnocalycium obductum

Pretty miniature cactus, characterized by a globose stem that does not exceed a few centimeters in diameter while maintaining a slight depression at the apex. The body of the cactus is meticulously adorned with deeply grooved asymmetric tubercles, among which appear sparse roundish and whitish areoles. From the areoles come out three or four slender whitish spines that contrast pleasantly with the dark purple tone of the stem and are arranged like a star, almost as if to wrap it: the final effect is extremely elegant and delicate and it is amazing to notice so much richness of details in specimens of such modest size!
