Gymnocalycium mucidum

Solitary cactus with grey-violaceous epidermis; globose built but flattened at the apex, formed by tuberculated and shallow ribs. It grows mainly in width up to about 10 cm of diameter. At regular distances are present large, roundish areoles enriched by a thick white down: in the middle of the areoles thin thorns protrude, white-greyish coloured and of variable length, which tend to wrap the stem. In spring this cactus will give you a breathtaking show with its large flowers with yellow-whitish petals, which contrast nicely with a red and lively throat!
