The name honors Carlos Most - a succulent collector, who was the first to discover this species. It is a solitary cactus of a globular shape that does not exceed 13 cm in height. Its bright green stem has 11 to 14 ribs, on which clearly visible tubercles with very downy areoles are formed. Strong brownish spines with darker tips emerge from these areoles, which become gray with age. It produces pinkish-white inflorescences of about 6-8 cm in diameter. Gymnocalycium mostii is a plant very easy to grow, ideal even for those, who do not have a green thumb.
