Gymnocalycium ferrari

A small solitary cactus, that hardly reaches 4 cm in height. It has a globose and flattened reddish-green stem (it differs from G. glaucum for its redder epidermis) with well-marked ribs, at the apex of which downy areoles and small stiff brown-greyish spines are formed, which are curved downwards. During summer, it blooms, at the apex, with pink-yellowish funnel-shaped flowers.
