Gymnocalycium coloradense

Beautiful globose cactus, slightly depressed at the apex, which retains a small size but is undoubtedly showy for its peculiar thorns. Divided into large rhomboidal tubercles rather protruding of an opaque dark green, it has large whitish and fluffy areolas from which emerge a few very robust thorns, white-greyish and even several centimeters long. With the shape similar to an awl, are usually 5 or 6 spines that are placed facing towards the stem and, due to their length, tend to cross each other up to almost wrap it. The overall effect is that of a cactus deeply prickly but at the same time neat and elegant!
