This cactacea was first found by the collectors Jörg and Brigitte Piltz near San Luis (Bolivia). It’s a globose cactus, depressed at the apex, of an opaque greyish-green color; it has multiple protuberances, on which white slightly downy areoles emerge. It is equipped with sparse, sturdy, straight, grayish-white spines. Its inflorescences, funnel-shaped, of a considerable size and of a white color, tinged with yellow, are endowed with a silky sheen.
