Description:

Pleasant cactus consisting of globose stem, strongly depressed at the apex, almost flat, which tends in nature to remain mostly underground to defend against the weather. The variegated shape of this cactus presents the typical lighter areas in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: these characteristics will never be the same from one plant to another, therefore each specimen will be absolutely unique and, for this reason, highly sought after by collectors. It has little marked longitudinal ribs, wavy and deeply tuberculated horizontally, among which stand out white roundish areoles that contrast with the opaque olive green of the body. Its spines are strongly characteristic: generally three, are dark, very robust and arranged in a rather flattened way towards the cactus, tending only rarely to protrude with the sharp extremities outwards. In spring the charm of this cactus is further accentuated by showy apical flowers with multi-layered petals on the notes of a white shade of pink extremely elegant, which will certainly not go unnoticed!

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
