Gymnocalycium bayrianum

Generally it is a solitary cactus, which can occasionally cluster at the base. It has a globular stem, depressed at the apex, of a light green or bluish-green color, which under the intense sun may take on brownish colors. It is a fairly compact cactaceae, it does not exceed 10 cm in height and 5-6 cm in diameter. On the flattened ribs, little noticeable tubercles are formed with downy areoles, from which sturdy and rigid brownish spines (with age they become gray), slightly curved, emerge - a characteristic that makes this species highly sought after by cactus collectors. In summer, it blooms with funnel-shaped white flowers with a pink throat.
