Gymnocalycium albiareolatum

Particular cactus with a spherical shape, slightly depressed at the apex, with slightly tuberculated longitudinal ribs. It grows solitary and does not reach large sizes, in natural habitat to protect itself from atmospheric agents, it tends to remain underground and you can notice only its large spring flowers, wonderfully shaded from external white to internal pink. G. albiareolatum has large, white and woolly areoles (hence the name of the species which, in Latin, literally means “white areoles”); from the latter emerges short light spines, well straight and arranged in a radial pattern, sometimes accompanied by a single very similar central spine, facing outwards.
