Pleasant succulent that develops in a thick rosette or, sometimes, in leaves that grow in opposite pairs (more typical for the genus Gasteria). It has an elongated and lanceolate foliage, slightly pointed at the apex; the real strength is, however, the epidermis, which is tinged with an almost black color extremely peculiar. When exposed to abundant sunlight, G. pseudonigricans takes on showy purple-reddish shades that make it even more showy and contrast pleasantly with the long spikes of white-pink inflorescences.
