A succulent plant with two opposite leaves, more or less long, of a dark green color and in some varieties rough to the touch. The name Gasteria derives from the bizarre shape of their flowers, similar to that of a stomach. The inflorescences are up to 50 cm high with light red flowers. G. amstrongii, with the prolonged exposure to the direct sun, may take on brown colors, for this reason it is a perfect succulent plant for indoor environments.
