It is a particular cactus, the name of which derives from the province of Chiquitos, the area of its origin. Generally it is a solitary cactus that does not exceed 2-3 cm in height and 3-4 cm in diameter. It produces a globular stem, slightly depressed at the apex, it is of a dark green color, with numerous ribs (about 30) with well-defined tubercles. Brown spines of about 3 mm in length emerge from brownish areoles. During the flowering period it produces, at the apex, large funnel-shaped flowers of a sulfur yellow color, which can sometimes cover the whole plant.
