Description:
Among the other specimens of its family, it turns out to be one of the smallest. In fact, it has a small globose or slightly elongated stem that usually does not exceed 2 cm in diameter, of a reddish brown color. It is covered with dense oval areoles, under which small “purple moons” can be seen. This greater or lesser evident feature makes it a highly sought-after plant. Its tiny spines are combed and white in color. In the flowering season, it produces huge flowers of a beautiful bright yellow color at the apex.

Plant care:
It requires an exposure to full sun. However, it can be placed in a partially shaded area only if it still receives a lot of light throughout the year.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 8 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.
A well draining soil is an optimal solution, to avoid rotting, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
