Description:

F. camura is a caudiciform plant in which stands out immediately the massive woody caudex, formed by intertwined roots that, besides giving it an extremely ornamental look, have the important function of holding as much water inside, to use it during the long drought periods of native places. From this brown bulb, almost orange, comes out, during the vegetative periods, thick ramifications of climbing stems, equipped with small dark green leaves with a glossy effect. In drought periods the leaves fall and only the bulb of the plant remains. Perhaps not many know that, in the past, some species were used for alimentary purposes, after a long and elaborate baking.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water regularly but moderately during the growing season (when the new leaves are born), always making sure that the soil is always dry between one watering and the next one. During the dormant period (when the leaves begin to turn yellow and fall) suspend watering.

The best soil is a well-draining and porous one, even better if further enriched with 50% or more of inert materials such as pumice, lapilli or clay.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
