Ferocactus pottsii f. monstrous

F. pottsii is a generally solitary globose cactus that can ignite with time. Its green-greyish stem is equipped with tuberculate ribs on which large round white areolas sprout. From the latter come out the radial and central spines: the first are straight whitish while the central ones are longer. Thanks to its monstrous shape, F. pottsii presents anomalies such as reliefs, asymmetries that make it a unique specimen; for this reason it is highly sought after by collectors all over the world. During the flowering period, in summer, beautiful funnel-shaped flowers bloom at the apex of the stem that form a yellowish and orange crown around the plant.
