Ferocactus latispinus f. variegated

Generally solitary globe cactus also known as "devil’s tongue cactus". Its bluish-green stem is equipped with well defined longitudinal ribs, on which large white fluffy areolas sprout. The variegated shape presents, along the body of the cactaceae, clearer areas in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: these characteristics will never be the same from one plant to another, therefore each specimen will be absolutely unique! The radial spines are robust, needle-like and translucent, of whitish color, whilst the central spines are of a bright red, where centrally emerges a long flat and hooked spine, similar to a tongue (hence the nice nickname). The flowers are bell-shaped and multi-layered petals are serrated at the edges, intense pink-magenta and bloom in spring at the apex of the cactus, adorning it with an intense and graceful vivacity at the same time.
