Ferocactus hamatacanthus f. variegated

Beautiful exemplar of cactus that in its variegated form presents shades of yellow in places where there is a lack of chlorophyll; these shades are never the same in plants making each of them unique and for this reason much sought after by collectors. In its normal form it is a solitary-bearing cactus. Its dark green stem, initially globose similar to a barrel, becomes columnar with age and has deep tuberculate ribs, on which are present white and woolly areoles. From these ones come out radial spines of red-brownish color, whilst the central ones are paler, longer and with a hooked shape. From late summer to autumn it produces beautiful yellow funnel-shaped flowers that form a ring at the apex of the plant.
