Ferocactus hamatacanthus

It is a cactaceae with a solitary habit. Its dark green stem, initially globular, similar to a barrel, becomes columnar with age. It has deep tuberculate ribs, on which white downy areoles can be seen. From these areoles spines emerge: radial red-brownish spines, while the central ones are lighter, longer, of a hooked shape. From late summer to autumn, it blooms with beautiful yellow funnel-shaped flowers, that form some sort of a ring at the apex of the plant.
