Ferocactus fordii var. borealis

Formerly known as “Ferocactus Fordii”. It is a small cactus with a solitary habit. Its gray-green stem has deep and well-marked ribs, on which, from spaced apart, downy areoles, spines emerge: whitish, long and thin radial spines, and central ones, that can vary in color, ranging from gray to reddish brown. In summer, it blooms with beautiful purple-pink flowers, that form some sort of a ring at the apex of the plant.
