Ferocactus flavovirens f. monstrous

The monstrous shape of this cactus presents anomalies of shape such as asymmetries, reliefs or even lack of thorns, that will make each exemplar unique in its kind as you will never find two monstrous plants with the same characteristics. The normal shape of this cactus has a globose stem that with growth can become columnar. The epidermis is opaque green, with protruding and asymmetric tubercles. At the apex of each tubercle are present large roundish areoles, white and wooly: from the latter come out long and thin radial spines, slightly curved, of a yellowish-brownish hue and radiating; it has a single central spine, generally longer, robust and well straight than the others. With the growth all the quills will tend to assume more grayish, almost pinkish colors. Between spring and summer, the wild appearance of this cactus will be pleasantly contrasted by its large, vibrant flowers with notes of yellow and red.
