Ferocactus emoryi f. variegated

It is a solitary (occasionally clustered), barrel-shaped cactus that can grow up to two meters in height. Its dark green stem shows yellow variegations, that make each specimen unique and therefore highly sought after by green collectors. Initially it is globose, that can assume a columnar shape with growth. It has deep and well marked ribs, on which, from downy, spaced apart, areoles yellow-reddish, curved and hooked spines grow. In late spring it blooms with beautiful reddish funnel-shaped flowers, that form some sort of a ring at the apex of the plant.
