Euphorbia gorgonis f. crested

The crested shape of this succulent presents a unique and unmistakable fan crest as it will never look identical in two distinct plants, thus making each of them very sought after by collectors. In the normal form E. gorgonis is a caudiciform succulent plant (caudex), its root forms a bulb merging with the central stem. At the apex the plant is crowned by stems with an elongated cylindrical shape, with numerous protuberances dotted with scars created by the fallen leaves. The arrangement of the apical stems, similar to the hair-snakes of the gorgon Medusa, is what gives it the name 'gorgonis'. The inflorescence occurs in the central part, generating small bright yellow flowers.
