The crested shape of this cactus has a very particular fan crest as it will never be identical in two different plants making each of them unique and for this reason highly sought after by collectors around the world. In its normal form E. chihuahuensis is a globe-shaped cactus that tends to become cylindrical over time. It has a green stem entirely covered by thorns, which are arranged like a ray above each tubercle and are white in color. Its beautiful fuchsia flowers bloom at the apex of the plant.
