This cylindrical cactus is distinguished by its long, sharp spines. The central spine is creamy white in color and can reach 8 cm in length and is surrounded by other 5 or 6 shorter but always well-pointed radial spines. It is therefore always important to approach with extreme caution. The green stem is characterized by evident rippled ribs that make it very special. The flower that grows at the apex has white and pink streaked petals.
