The monstrous shape of a cactaceae presents anomalies such as asymmetries or lack of thorns, characteristics of the appearance that will never present identical in plants making each of them unique in its kind and for this reason strongly sought by collectors. In its normal form, it is a solitary cactus that, with its growth, becomes tufted forming large groups. Its green stem and erect form has tubercles from which emerge slightly wooly areoles. From the latter sprout initially yellow spines and then fade into black. Beautiful orange-red funnel-shaped flowers bloom in spring/summer.
