The crested shape of this cactaceae presents the typical fan arrangement that makes each exemplar absolutely unique, never identical to another and for this reason very appreciated by collectors. The normal form of this cactaceae was first found in nature near Cameron County, Texas (USA), by collector Steven Brack. It is formed by erect and narrow stems with a dark green color, which, with the growth, tend to branch at the base. It has tuberculate ribs equipped with small and sparse round areoles, from which come out a few whitish thorns, straight, short and star-shaped.
