This cactus was first found near Cameron County, Texas (USA), by the collector Steven Brack, who gave it the code SB860. This cylindrical cactus is made up of erect and narrow dark green stems, which branch at the base. It has tuberculous ribs, equipped with small and sparse round areoles, from which a few whitish, straight, short and star-shaped spines emerge. During spring, it blooms with funnel-shaped flowers of a magenta color.
