Echinocereus mapimiensis

It is a cactaceae with a solitary habit that can also cluster at the base, as it grows. The cylindrical, green  stem has thin tuberculous ribs, equipped with yellowish round areoles. From these areoles spines emerge: the radial ones are white, fine and long; the central spines are instead thin, curved downwards and dense like some sort of a down, of a color that varies from white to brownish. In spring, it blooms with small bell-shaped flowers of a pink-purple or purple color.
