The variegated shape of this cactus has typical yellow zones in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent, generating unique examples, never exactly equal to others and for this reason it is extremely sought after by collectors. It’s a solitary cactus, which can also form tufts at the base while growing. The globose stem, of green-bluish colour, has slightly tuberculate ribs equipped with small round areoles, well spaced between them. It is almost totally spineless, the only ones are yellow and very thin. In spring it generates pink or white funnel-shaped flowers.
