Description:
This cactaceae was found for the first time near Sierra El Fuste, in Coahuila (Mexico), by the collector Steven Brack, who gave it the code SB1975. It is a plant of a columnar and branched shape. As it grows, its stems tend to lengthen and fall downwards, while in its first period of life they maintain an erect habit. Its green cylindrical stem is equipped with areoles. Long white spines emerge from these areoles, which tend to darken over time.

Description:

This magnificent exemplar of cactus has stems covered by a white fluff and long bristles. Its bushy stem during the growth can reach 35 cm of height and 90 cm of width. With the passage of time E. delaetii can form numerous tufted stems, which can reach up to 50 ; on the contrary, when in cultivation, it has smaller dimensions. Very sought after by collectors for its peculiar white down and magnificent flowers, which grow at the apex of the plant and vary from pink to light purple with a yellowish shade in the center. Flowering usually takes place at the end of spring - early summer.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 8 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer and suspend watering completely in winter.

A medium porous substrate, consisting of soil mixed with sand, which makes it well draining. is an optimal solution.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
