Echinocactus ingens

It is a slow-growing, solitary, globular cactus that can cluster over time, considered as the largest one of the barrel-shaped cacti. Its body is of a dark green color, slightly concave at the apex, where, over time, a thick white down similar to a pillow is formed. It has multiple well furrowed ribs, equipped with numerous downy areoles of a white-yellowish color, from which long and rigid gray-brownish spines emerge. Flowering occurs in spring-summer only on large plants, blooming with many small yellow flowers that form a ring at the apex of the plant.
