Description:
Also commonly called "mother-in-law's pillow", it is a globular cactus with a slow growth and a solitary habit, which can cluster over time. Its body is of a light green color, slightly concave at the apex, where, over time, a thick white down similar to a pillow is formed. It has many well-furrowed ribs, equipped with numerous downy areoles of a white-yellowish color. It differs from E. grusonii and E. grusonii var. brevispinus for its medium long yellowish spines. Flowering occurs in spring-summer only on large plants, blooming with many small yellow flowers that form a ring at the apex of the plant.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 8 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best option is a substrate suitable for cactaceae, as long as it is well draining.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
